What They Said

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

The following are some of the remarks left by the guests in the guest book at Maki Talo at Brantwood, Wisconsin, on the occasion of the ribbon chopping ceremony and meal on Saturday, July 18th, 2009:

“Nicest hyysikka in the whole U.S. of A!”

“Great party and people!”

“Definitely ‘Brantwood’s Jewel.’”

“Fantastic party.”

And little Scarlett who wanted to buy the place asked “How much does it cost?”

Bill Hoffman, the owner of Maki Talo at Brantwood, Wisconsin, used a Fiskars hatchet made in Finland to chop the ribbon officially opening Maki Talo.  Mike Macki prepared a 5-star meal of salmon, alligator and bluegill.  Rod Maki and June Saari Johnson entertained on their accordions.  And the assembled guests enjoyed the entire production.

June & Rod played and sang the song Maki Talo, all 11 verses of it, before the assembled guests at the ribbon-chopping ceremony at Maki Talo.  June wrote the music and lyrics for the song.  The song can be downloaded on an earlier post on this blog.

Uber-talented Mike took off his log-building cap, put on his chef’s cap and prepared salmon on the grill and alligator and bluegill in the fryer.  It was truly a 5-star meal!  Thank you, Mike.
