Tuesday, July 20th, 2010This Monotropa hypopitys is growing beside a trail near Maki Talo. It is also known as Dutchman’s Pipe, Yellow Bird’s-nest and Pinesap. It is a rare and endangered plant. It is related to the more commonly seen Monotropa uniflora also known as Indian Pipe which is also growing among the rhododendrons at Maki Talo.
